Welcome to the Ashfield Parish Plan web site. For more information click Home.

"Parish Plans" provide a structured way for communities, especially those outside major urban areas, to identify their wants and needs. Rural communities can often feel left out of modern developments and lacking in modern facilities. Parish Plans help articulate our concerns, and give us a voice. As the name suggests, Parish Plans also propose what should be done. They are also an important step in getting external funding to enable communities to implement the plans.

This work, encouraged by the Countryside Agency, supports local Parish Councils and other community organisations in their work. It doesn't in any way replace other village bodies or compete with them, and the Ashfield Parish Plan is sponsored and supported by Ashfield Parish Council.

Ashfield started work on a Parish Plan in November 2003. We are currently planning the work, and in the New Year we shall provide much more information on how we shall prepare the plan, and how we shall involve the village in the task. In the mean time, please see these pages for news, or contact me or any of the Steering Group.

Based on the experience of other parishes, the work will take until autumn 2004, and implementing the results may run into 2005.
